Welcome back to school!
In English this half-term we are looking at building our vocabulary and also evaluating and creating our own explorers’ guides. We will be using books such as ‘How to be a World Explorer’ by Lonely Planet.
In Maths, we are starting by looking at place value, before moving on to negative numbers and decimals.
Our work in Science will focus on exploring space. The children will carry out experiments and discover more about our solar system.
Our topic this half-term is World War One. This is to mark the hundred-year anniversary since the Armistice. Our work will focus on the countries involved in the war and how it started, as well as looking at what it was like to experience the war from different viewpoints (soldiers at the frontline, women, children and animals). Our artwork will be linked to our World War One topic. The children will create their own poppy art as well as explore the work of war artists such as Christopher Richard Nevinson and Wyndham Lewis.
Please ensure that your child reads and practises their spellings every day. We have a spelling test on Friday and homework is due on a Wednesday.
