Featherstone Wood Inclusion team
Mrs Rebecca Smith - Assistant Headteacher SEN, DDSP
Mrs Amy Handysides- Assistant Headteacher Pastoral, DDSP
Together they oversee provision to ensure that all children within the school are well supported in all aspects of their learning. They are both on the schools Designated Senior Leaders team relating to safeguarding issues.
The SENCO coordinates provision for children with Special Educational Needs, including carrying out assessments, planning interventions, supporting the teaching staff and working with parents and liaising with external professionals.
The Pastoral Lead has responsibility for supporting children with additional emotional needs, as well as supporting children with specific gifts or talents, and other children with inclusion needs such as Looked After Children or children with English as an Additional Language.
They work hard to ensure that all members of our school community are well supported. Families can contact them to discuss any needs that arise and we will try to provide support or signpost you to other professionals we work with.
In this section of our website you will find more information about how children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and those with additional emotional needs are supported in school as well as information about some of the professionals we partner with.

What is DSPL?
DSPL (Delivering Special Provision Locally) is a Hertfordshire-wide partnership approach where parents, carers, staff in early years settings and schools, further education colleges, local authority officers and representatives from other agencies work together as part of an Area Group, to ensure that there is a range of provision and support services available in their local community: http://stevenagedspl.org.uk/
